Botswana will be joined by Cameroon, Eswatini, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique and Sierra Leone in the quest to qualify for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024. This is the first time that eight sides are contesting the Africa Division 2 Qualifier.

Botswana will be hosting their third consecutive women's qualifier event for the region.

Two groups of four teams will play round robin fixtures, with the top two teams in each group then moving to the semi-final stage. The final will be played on 8 September.

Ten teams are due to participate in the Women's T20 World Cup. Eight teams have sealed their spot for the global event. Six of them - Australia, South Africa, England, India, New Zealand, and the West Indies - earned direct qualification, while Bangladesh qualified as hosts. Pakistan, on the other hand, qualified by virtue of their position in the MRF Tyres ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings.

The remaining two spots will be filled by a Global Qualifier. This event will see 10 teams participate in it. While two spots are filled by Sri Lanka and Ireland, the remaining eight will be filled via the five Global Regions.

The Africa regional final will be one of these regions. It will see a contest between Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe and the top two teams from the Africa Division 2 Qualifier.

The top two sides from here will qualify for the Global Qualifier.
