Bowlers power the UAE to big win over Indonesia
Captain Esha Oza's all-round show helped the UAE to open their account in the Women's Asia Cup.
Opting to field first, the UAE bowlers struck right from ball one to push Indonesia on the back foot.
Suraksha Kotte, who snapped two in her very first over, combined with skipper Esha to dominate Indonesia's batters, as they lost four wickets within seven overs.
Indonesian captain Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini got together with Desi Wulandari to stitch a much-needed partnership but the UAE bowlers were successful in restricting the run-flow.
Despite the pair lasting for 9.1 overs, they managed to put on only 34 runs together, as the UAE bowlers barring Vaishnave Mahesh went for a bowling economy of 4.00 or less.
Kotte (3/16) was the most successful bowler for the UAE, snapping three wickets, while Esha (2/11), Heena Hotchandani (2/6) and Vaishnave (2/18) picked two each and Samaira Dharnidharka (1/12) secured a wicket as well.
Chasing 74 for victory, the host nation had a slow start and lost Theertha Satish early but skipper Esha and Rinitha Rajith put on a partnership of 45 runs to ensure the chase got back on track.
Sofia Velic grabbed two wickets in an over, but UAE eventually got there comfortably with six wickets and 6.5 overs to spare.
While Indonesia were unsuccesful in getting a win in the tournament, UAE will face Bangladesh next on September 8.
