Bowling action of Afghanistan’s Zia-ur-Rehman found to be legal
The International Cricket Council (ICC) today confirmed that the bowling action of Afghanistan’s Zia-ur-Rehman has been found to be legal, and the player can continue bowling in international cricket.
The 18-year-old was reported after the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2016 match against Pakistan at the Sylhet International CricketStadium in Sylhet on Thursday. Zia’s action was assessed by the Expert Panel which determined it was legal.
The assessment was carried out in accordance with Section 4 of the ICC Regulations for the Review of Bowlers Reported with Suspected Illegal Actions.
Afghanistan will take on the fourth placed side from Group C in the Plate Championship quarter-final in Cox’s Bazar on Friday, 5 February.
