Brooks' all-round show leads West Indies HPC to win

West Indies High Performance Centre XI beat Emirates Cricket Board XI by 23 runs in a twenty20 match at the ICC Global Cricket Academy Oval in the first game of the Caribasian tournament on Friday.

Batting first West Indies High Performance Centre posted 178 for six in its 20 overs. The key scorers for the visitors were Devon Thomas (72: 44b, 2x6, 8x4) and Shamarah Brooks (61: 30b , 3x6, 4x4). Thomas and Brooks added 110 runs for the fourth wicket.

The most successful bowler for ECB XI was Amjad Javed who picked up 2-49.

In its chase, ECB XI lost wickets at regular intervals. Mohammed Iqbal (30), Faizan Asif (20) provided a confident start.

The most important contributor for the ECB XI was Baktiyar Palekar (55: 36b, 2x6, 6x4). But the rest of the line-up collapsed as ECB XI was bowled out for 155 in 19.2 overs.

The main wicket-takers for West Indies High Performance Centre was Brandon Bess (2-28), Jason Holder (2-30) andd Shamarh Brooks (3-21).
