Cameron White replaces Chris Lynn in Australia squad
Australia have named Victoria batsman Cameron White as the replacement for Chris Lynn for the upcoming One-Day International series against England. Lynn had pulled out of the tournament owing to a calf strain. White has been rewarded for his consistent performances in the Big Bash League as well as Australia's domestic One-Day competition. Playing for the Melbourne Renegades, White has scored 285 runs at 142.5 in the Big Bash this season and had finished as the top run-scorer in the domestic One-Day tournament with 457 runs at 76.16.
The recall for White comes after a gap of two years. He last played a One-Day International for Australia in January 2015 against England. The 34-year-old made his international debut against ICC World XI in 2005 in a One-Day International and made his Test debut against India in 2008. White has played four Tests, 88 One-Day Internationals and 47 T20 Internationals for Australia.
He was part of Australia's team for the ICC Champions Trophy 2009, a tournament Australia won. He has also played in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and the ICC World T20 in 2010, 2012 and 2014.
"Cameron’s in very good form, as his figures demonstrate," said Australia National Selector Trevor Hohns. "He’s playing very well. He’s one of the leading run-scorers in this season’s KFC BBL, he’s experienced, he’s a very smart cricketer and he’s a good fielder. He ticks all the boxes for what we need at this stage."
White will join the Australia squad on Thursday (January 11) ahead of the first One-Day International at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on January 14.
