Campbelle returns as West Indies name squad for ICC CWC Qualifier 2021
Shemaine Campbelle, who missed the series against Pakistan and South Africa, returns to the squad after an impressive outing in a lone practice match where she struck a century in 107 balls.
Skipper Stafanie Taylor too is back after missing the series against South Africa.
Lead Selector Ann Browne-John was pleased with two experienced campaigners returning in time for the all-important tour and qualifiers.
"The upcoming Pakistan series and World Cup qualifiers are crucial as the team works towards participation in the Cricket World Cup in 2022," said Ann Browne-John.
"It is important to note that Shemaine Campbelle is once again fit and available after being away through injury. She is one of the senior players and has shown herself to be one of the premier wicket-keepers in the world. She scored runs in the practice match since her return.”
"The captain Stafanie Taylor who missed the South Africa Series is also back which also serves to strengthen both the batting and bowling.
"The squad has a mix of senior and developing players and particular mention must be made of two young players, Qiana Joseph and Rashada Williams, who had very encouraging series against South Africa and hopefully they will go from strength to strength.”
The same contingent will also travel to Pakistan for three ODIs to be played between 8 and 14 November at the National Stadium in Karachi.
After the completion of the three-match series they will compete against nine other teams, including Pakistan, for one of the three spots in the 2022 ICC Women's Cricket World Cup in New Zealand.
