Canada maintains winning streak against USA

Canada defeated USA by four wickets to win the 50-over match of the Auty Cup in Florida on Friday.

Having won the two-day game on first innings, the visitors needed a solid batting performance to overhaul the home team's 194.

After slipping to 82-4, Usman Limbada (64) was supported by Ruvindu Gunasekera (40) and Damodar Daesrath (39) to see Canada home with 19 balls to spare.

Home spinners Karan Ganesh (2-24) and Timil Patel (2-49) fought hard but Canada held their nerve.

Raza-ur-Rehman - whose batting inspired Canada to victory in the two-day fixture - had earlier produced a devastating spell with the ball to instigate a dramatic collapse from the hosts.

After captain Steven Taylor (14 not out) retired hurt, opener William Perkins (46) was joined by Timothy Surujbally (28) to move the first-wicket stand onto 94.

Rehman then shared four wickets in the space of six runs with Junaid Siddiqui (2-29) as USA slipped to 100-4.

Patel (22), Neil McGarrell (26) and Barrington Bartley (23) led a fightback but from 179-5 another collapse followed as the last five wickets fell for 15 runs.

Rehman, primarily a batsman at international level up to now, finished with 5-27 in 10 overs.

Attention now turns to Saturday's final day of the Auty Cup with a double-header of Twenty20 matches.
