Afghanistan won by six wickets

A brilliant century by Mohammad Shahzad helped Afghanistan to a six-wicket victory over the Netherlands in Amstelveen on Tuesday. Shahzad scored a quick-fire 110 in 112 balls to record his maiden ODI century and help his side level the two-match series 1-1.

His century overshadowed fine batting performances from Eric Szwarczynski (65 in 84 balls) and ten Doeschate (98 not out in 133 balls) as the hosts finished at 231-7 batting first. Skipper Nowroz Mangal was the pick of the bowlers for Afghanistan taking 3-35 in six overs.

The Afghan run-chase got off to a slow start with Noor Ali (15) being dismissed early by Mudassar Bukhari. Shahzad then took over and was well-supported in his debut ODI century by Asghar Stanikzai (30) and Samiullah Shenwari (39) as the visitors reached the target with 20 balls to spare.

Bukhari was the top bowler for the Netherlands finishing with figures of 2-40 including the prize wicket of Shahzad.
