Chloe Tryon delighted that South Africa tick another box
So far in their one-day international series against Bangladesh Women, the South Africa bowlers have dominated. The hosts have thrice dismissed their opponents for a score lower than 100.
On Friday 11 May too, South Africa bundled Bangladesh out for 76, but not before their batters finally got a chance to show that when faced with a challenge, they too were up to the task.
On a sluggish surface, they batted first and dug in to post 230/7, setting up their 4-0 series lead.

Chloe Tryon, the stand-in captain, was delighted at how the openers Lizelle Lee and Laura Wolvaardt tackled the slowness of the surface and the inconsistent bounce to ensure no wickets were lost in the first 20 overs.
“Happy that we got a chance to bat first,” said Tryon after the match. “We’d been bowling really well, so we wanted to give the batters a chance out there. It was a bit slow this morning, so we knew we had to stay and grind really hard to get over that 220 mark.”
Tryon herself came in and smashed 60 off 52 balls, taking the lead in handy partnerships with the middle order and tail to lift the total.

“It was a bit difficult when I came out,” she said. “Their bowlers were doing a bit, a little bit of sponge bounce. I knew I had to stay and give myself time and build a partnership … I was happy that I gave myself time and picked the overs I wanted to go at.”
Then, it was a matter of the bowling attack doing what they have been doing all series. Six bowlers were pressed into service and all of them got at least one wicket.
“I was really excited,” said Tryon. “I could call on every single bowler and they came on and always did their job. I did tell them to stay warm at any time, because I did want to switch it up, keep the batter guessing.”
The teams will now move to Bloemfontein for the final match on Monday.
