Confident Broad hopes to better 'man of the match' Lord's performance at Nottingham

Lord's Test man of the match Stuart Broad is expecting to notch up stronger performance during the second Test match against West Indies at his home ground Trent Bridge in Nottingham, starting on Friday.

Broad become the first bowler since the legendary Ian Botham to take ten wickets or more at Lord's since 1978, and excelled himself with figures of 11-65 as England won the match by five wickets.

"There's always room for improvement. In the first innings, I didn't bowl as well as I could do," The Telegraph quoted Broad, as saying.

"But the stride pattern and rhythm felt nice, and in the second innings it improved in less helpful conditions. The '10' board has been empty since 1978, so it's nice to fill a gap," he added.

Broad made it clear his joy of getting his name on Lord's honours board would have been short-lived had his efforts not helped England to their five-wicket win yesterday.

"Any cricketer will say the same - if you take a five-for or score a hundred and lose, it means nothing," Broad said.

"You take anything to get that victory. Going to Trent Bridge, it's important we reset the mind and focus on that challenge," he added.
