Sunday's Commonwealth Bank Series match between Australia and Pakistan at the SCG will highlight World Vision's efforts to raise funds for victims of the Haiti earthquake disaster by the setting up of the Commonwealth Bank Series Haiti Earthquake Appeal.

World Vision volunteers will be at the match to collect donations and talk about the situation in Haiti, while Australian players will assist volunteers at intervals throughout the match by walking through the crowd to collect donations.

Cricket fans can support the appeal by donating to World Vision at www.worldvision.com.au, with Channel Nine supporting the appeal through its broadcast.

The 7.0 magnitude earthquake that ravaged Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas on 12 January has affected millions and left people without food, water or shelter, World Vision is in Haiti distributing aid to thousands of earthquake survivors.

Funds raised will provide families with emergency kits, shelter, water, clothing, blankets, food, hygiene and cooking sets, along with the distribution of medical supplies to 11 hospitals and health centres.

World Vision has been working in Haiti for over 30 years, meaning that World Vision will remain with communities to help them rebuild their lives long after the emergency response phase is over.

"We have had tons of supplies successfully airlifted into Port au Prince, and distributed to the community there," said World Vision chief executive Tim Costello. "But this is a disaster that is almost beyond comprehension. We ask Australians to keep giving whatever they can - every dollar counts."

Ms Barbara Chapman, Commonwealth Bank Group Executive Human Resources and Group Services said, "We are pleased to join with World Vision and Cricket Australia to raise funds to assist the people affected by this terrible disaster. Donations can be made through any Commonwealth Bank branch."

Cricket Australia Chief Executive Officer James Sutherland said:

"Australia - and Australian cricket - has a tradition of lending a hand in times of need, whether at home or abroad. Every little bit helps, even your loose change, when the collection tins go around at the SCG."
