Fiji has announced its squad for the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 5 competition in Nepal next month.

The 14-player squad will be led by first time captain Joe Rika who takes over the reins from the injured Joe Sorovakatini, while two vice captains have been appointed, Joe Dabea and Iniasi Cakacaka. All three players have experience playing at World Cricket League level and will provide strong leadership for the squad.

"It was a difficult job for the selectors to narrow down the squad to 14 players from our training squad,? said Cricket Fiji General Manager Martin Shaw. "However, we feel that the players selected have earned
their place in the team with strong performances over the last year."

Players were selected after taking into consideration performances during the tours of Vanuatu and Samoa during 2009 as well as in the recently completed Elite Player League.

"It is a strong squad that we have picked," said coach Steve Jenkin. "We feel that we have the right blend of youth and experience that will give the team a good shot at performing well at WCL level.

"The fact that three of our players are under 20 years of age shows that we have some talent coming through the ranks to mix with the experienced players who have already played in the tournament in the past."

The full squad is:

Josefa Rika (Captain), Josefa Dabea, Iniasi Cakacaka, Josaia Baba, Peni Rika, Viliame Yabaki,
Joji Bulabalavu, Maciu Gauna, Jikoi Kida, Tukana Tavo, Tavo Sorovakatini, Sakaraia Lomani, Lee Waqa, Greg Browne
