Cricket Fiji names teams for CF Women's National championship
Cricket Fiji has announced the teams that will compete in the 2012 Women's National Championships that will be held at Albert Park Suva from the 10th to 13th January 2012.
The Championship is bolstered by the news that two of Cricket Fiji's national team players who are playing overseas will be returning to Fiji to participate in the Tournament: Sera Kaukiono is currently playing in Australia and Semaema Raramasi who plays in New Zealand will make the trip back to Fiji to play. Cricket Fiji's own Ruci Kaiwai is also expected to make a big impact on the championship as he has been in fine form in the Suva Women's Cricket league and was a start player on the Tour to Vanuatu earlier this year.
For Sera, it's even more sacrifice as she will be getting married in Nadi only days before the tournament and her first week of being married will be playing cricket. Cricket Fiji CEO Jon Symonds "there was no way that Sera was going to miss out on playing if she was in Fiji, luckily it will give her husband (Former Cricket Fiji General Manager Martin Shaw) a chance to catch up with old friends and the staff at Cricket Fiji ? we looking forward to watching Sera who has been in excellent form in Australia play in the championship?
Jon Symonds went on to say that "2012 is a really important year for women's cricket, the national team will play in the East Asia Pacific region where we are expecting good things from them. The national Selectors will be paying close attention to this week of cricket as they will select the squad to train and from that squad, the 14 ladies will be chosen to represent Fiji "
