Cricket Fiji to join Under-19 All Stars

Fiji's best Under 19 players come together for an All Stars tournament beginning on Monday at the Suva Grammar ground. The tournament, which will run from 6-8 December, will be used to select Fiji's Under 19 team to contest the ICC EAP Championships on the Sunshine Coast in Australia in early February.
Only the Western and Northern divisions will take part in the All Stars as problems with the boat timetables prevented the Eastern division from attending. They will play three 50-over games over the three days and selectors will name a squad of 14, plus four non-traveling reserves, after its conclusion.
Eastern division players will still be considered for the team as Development Manager Jo Rika has seen them play during the Eastern Conference tournament earlier in the year. "These players will be given the same opportunity to make the team as any of the players at the All Stars. We know there is a lot of talent out in the Lau islands and we would not want to prevent them from playing at a higher level," said Rica.
Meanwhile, school children were invited to take part in Cricket Fiji's school holiday clinics which will be held again during the holidays. There will be three clinics held during December and January and children of all ages, and parents are also invited to attend. The clinics will be run by development staff from Cricket Fiji and will included drills and modified games.
They will run from 9-11am with the first one beginning on Wednesday, 8 December and continuing until Saturday, 11 December. The second clinic will be held from 15-17 December and the third from 17-19 January.
