Cricket Scotland/Lloyds TSB Scotland triumph in the ICC Development Program Annual Awards 2005
The ICC today announced the global winners of the ICC Development Program Awards 2005 with Cricket Scotland triumphant for the European Region.
For the second consecutive year, Cricket Scotland picked up the Best Cricket Promotional Program for its partnership with Lloyds TSB Scotland, and narrowly missed out on the Best Overall Development Program award.
The judges felt that Cricket Scotland had worked tirelessly to build on and develop all aspects of their promotional campaign, including renewing sponsorship deals and building relationships with local media to increase coverage of local cricket within Scotland.
"This award is fantastic news and due reward for the considerable commitment that Lloyds TSB Scotland have made to the promotion and development of the game in Scotland. Sponsors are crucial to our development and we have been exceptionally fortunate that Lloyds have invested so heavily in promoting the game to new audiences through innovative and imaginative campaigns," said Roddy Smith, Chief Executive Officer Cricket Scotland.
ICC Regional Development Manager-Europe Richard Holdsworth commented on the award; "This is truly a great achievement and is a testament to countries across the ICC Membership. Cricket Scotland has demonstrated the possible relationships which can be achieved with sponsors and together they and Lloyds TSB Scotland have achieved a huge amount in further developing the game."
Cricket Scotland will receive a generous US$1000 voucher from Kookaburra, which will be presented at the ECC Presidents? Day on 13th May 2006.
The global winners were selected by an esteemed judging panel comprising of Ehsan Mani (ICC President), Malcolm Gray (past ICC President), Dr Ali Bacher (ICC Cricket World Cup 2003 Executive Director) and Roger Knight (MCC Chief Executive and Secretary).
"This whole process has once again shown the outstanding work being done in the development of cricket around the world. It was immensely difficult to select the winners but those lucky enough to have been chosen reflect the contributions they have made to our wonderful worldwide sport."
"Everyone involved, winners and those not chosen, deserve immense credit for their efforts," said Mr Mani.
