Cricket Week 2000
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has promoted a number of programmes designed to develop and globalise cricket.
A significant initiative in this on-going process has just been announced with the launch of the first Cricket Week from 2 to 9 April 2000.
A combination of live events and large-scale television programming will spread awareness of cricket and Cricket Week all over the world.
ICC is to appoint a number of former players as 'Cricket Ambassadors' to visit numerous countries, using their knowledge and expertise of the game to assist ICC with its development programmes.
They will play a particularly prominent role during Cricket Week. As part of ICC's 'fast track' programme for the best Associate Member nations, an emerging nations tournament would be staged in Harare during Cricket Week.
Denmark, Holland, Ireland, Kenya and Scotland will be joined by Zimbabwe A in a 15-match series.
