The season is starting to gain momentum as the weather here in Denmark starts to warm up.

Svanholm remain undeafeted in both the Knockout Cup and Premier League.

In the semi final of the KO Cup played last Thursday, Svanholm hosted the clash against local rival Glostrup. Svanholm batted first and made 4/235 in their allotted 40 overs, largely thanks to a 151 run partnership between Nationals Soren Vestergaard (90) and Mickey Lund (86).

In reply Glostrup managed 9/179, with captain Peer Jensen top scoring with 31, but they were never in the hunt, as leg spinner Bobby Chawla returned the best figures of 4/35.

In the Premier League Svanholm have had wins against N¯rrebro and Skanderborg.

In the N¯rrebro game, Svanholm bowled first dismissing the visitors for 128, with the 4 bowlers used all bowling tightly and aggressively.

Thomas Hansen's opening spell had the opposition under pressure from the start, dismissing both openers almost immediately. Svanholm made the required runs in 42 overs, but it was less than convincing, and there appears to be plenty of room for improvement.

On Saturday Skanderborg traveled to Svanholm from Jutland after playing an exciting game against Esbjerg in the other KO Cup semi.

They lost the game by 1 run and Svanholm expected the Skandergorg batsman to push their bowlers, as their top order had been making some good scores.

Again Svanholm batted first and posted 7/237 with Thomas Hansen making 94 from 79 balls, and Soren Vestergaard making 40 from 39 balls.

Most of the scoring was done in the last 20 overs, as the top order failed to make any impact.

Skanderborg made 6/201, but never really challenged the Svanholm bowlers, with their batsman not making enough of an impact in the first half of their innings.

South African opening batsman Marshall made 90 not out to top score for the visitors.

Speaking of South Africans, Peter Kirsten, ex-Test batsman and now head of the Western Province Academy, arrived in Denmark to assist in the preparation of the Danish Team for the ICC Trophy in Canada.

Clinics have also been held at schools in Copenhagen which have been both enjoyable and rewarding, as most of the students have never come across cricket before, but to see them enthusiastically learning the different skills of our great game has really made a positive lasting impression.
