Delhi to host T20I series between Afghanistan and India
The two teams face off for the first time in a T20I bilateral series since January 2024.
Afghanistan will host India for a three-match T20I series in Delhi from 13 to 17 September as part of their Future Tours Program, with all three matches set to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
The upcoming contest is aimed at growing the cricketing relationship between the two nations, with Afghanistan continuing to stage their home fixtures in India in recent years.
The two sides have regularly faced each other across formats, including Afghanistan’s most recent tour of India for a three-match ODI series in June 2026, that ended 3-0 for India.
Schedule: (All three matches at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi)
13 September - 1st T20I
15 September - 2nd T20I
17 September - 3rd T20I
Afghanistan are currently engaged in a five-match ODI series against Ireland, where they've already sealed two wins, while India resume their ICC World Test Championship campaign against Sri Lanka, with the first Test set to begin on August 15.
Afghanistan Cricket Board Chair Mirwais Ashraf highlighted the importance of the series, with the ACB viewing the fixtures as another opportunity to strengthen its relationship with the BCCI and create more opportunities.
“This series holds great significance for Afghanistan cricket and represents another important step in the development of our longstanding relationship with the BCCI," he said.
"Hosting India for a bilateral series in India is a significant milestone for us, and we highly value the cooperation and support of the BCCI in making this event possible."
