Diepeveen spares Netherlands blushes
Batsman Wilfred Diepeveen stood firm as the Netherlands found life tough on day one of their ICC Intercontinental Cup match against Scotland at Deventer.
The 24-year-old, making his first-class debut, contributed 72 not out from a total of 210 all out.
Number 11 batsman Berend Westdijk gave Diepeveen crucial support as he made 17 out of a 10th-wicket stand of 64.
The Scotland attack dominated for much of the day with Matthew Parker the pick of the bowlers (4-64). The 20-year-old was backed up well by Gordon Drummond, who recorded the outstanding figures of 2-19 from 13 overs, and spinner Majid Haq (3-45).
Parker wrapped up the innings just before the close, when he bowled Westdijk, leaving Scotland?s openers with a tricky six overs to survive.
Drew Lockhart failed to see the day out as Westdijk removed him for 5 as Scotland ended the day on 16-1 in reply.
