Disappointing EAP beaten in final match of ACCC

The ICC East Asia – Pacific (EAP) team have been comprehensively beaten in a two-day fixture against NSW Country (NSWC) in Round 5 of the 2009 Australian Country Cricket Championships.
In its final match of the tournament, EAP won the toss and batted first on another good batting pitch, only to be dismissed for a dismal 72 in just 25 overs. Nothing went right for the EAP team with John Ovia the only player to reach 20, finishing unbeaten on 21 not out.
From there NSWC had over a day and a half to play with, and batted for a resounding 141 overs in stifling heat to reach 457-6.
The best of the bowlers for EAP were Mahuru Dai, who sent down 40 tidy overs to finish with 2-119, and Kila Pala who bowled 16 overs, taking 2-58.
This loss rounded out a disappointing carnival for EAP, finishing with one win from five matches. On a positive note the young team will certainly be better equipped to improve significantly next year.
