Dravid and Laxman continue to impress
India's veteran batting pair of Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman have both made significant gains in the latest Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen following yet more impressive performances in careers that show no signs of slowing down.
Dravid (38), who made his Test debut for India back in 1996, scored 119 and Laxman (37), who first appeared in the Test arena in the same year, hit 176 as the home team cruised to an innings victory over West Indies in Kolkata.
As a result, Dravid has moved up four places to eighth position in the rankings and Laxman gains five spots to 13th.
Another stalwart of world cricket, Shivnarine Chanderpaul (37), has slipped in the other direction following his side's defeat. The Guyanese left-hander loses four places to remain just inside the top 10.
Pragyan Ojha is the main mover in the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Test bowlers as the left-arm slow bowler gains six places to 26th position, the highest ranking of his career to date. The 25-year-old took six wickets in the match, helping to give India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
