Peter Borren has called time on his international career, with Pieter Seelaar replacing him as Netherlands captain.

The 34-year-old batting all-rounder made his ODI debut in 2006 and hangs up his boots with 58 caps in the format, as well as 43 T20I appearances. He was appointed captain of his country in 2010 and has been an iconic figure in Dutch cricket for more than a decade, appearing in the 2007 and 2011 ICC Cricket World Cups. Under his leadership the Netherlands won the ICC World Cricket League last year.

Borren played a vital role in the Netherlands' famous victory over England in the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, hitting 30 from 25 deliveries as his side chased down 163 at Lord's.

Seelaar replaces Borren at the helm with a wealth of international experience behind him. The spin-bowling all-rounder made his ODI debut in 2006 and has been a consistent performer in the years since.

Meanwhile, the Royal Dutch Cricket Association (KNCB) announced that Jeroen Smits has been appointed as the new national coach. A former captain of the Dutch team and later chairman of selectors, he replaces Rob Kemming who had been filling the role on an interim basis.
