Following a successful meeting with Richard Sels (Sales Manager, Alfred Reader & Co) last week at Lord's, the EDM was delighted to announce that sponsorship for the forthcoming Indoor Championships had been agreed. Readers will not only provide host nation, Belgium, with coloured clothing (with, for the first time in European tournaments, numbers on the back), but will also provide the yellow indoor balls for the tournament.

Additionally, a percentage of the turnover of the shop which will be set up in the Mechelen centre for the duration of the tournament will be donated to a chosen charity, as well as offsetting some of the overall costs of staging the tournament.

Readers have also agreed to produce balls for leagues within all European member countries at a considerably reduced rate with the ECC logo imprinted on the leather. The opportunity for country associations to order in bulk for their league matches, both for juniors and seniors, turf and artificial pitches, is an exciting development and one which will save money and also allow associations to raise revenue from sales to put toward their development programmes.

Richard Sels summed up the sponsorship arrangement saying: "The sponsorship of the ICC European development programme is a significant one to a company such as Alfred Reader & Co. We are all committed to spreading the game beyond traditional boundaries and any assistance that we can make in achieving this, we are delighted to do so".

Note: The standard practice of ordering direct from Readers by nominated country association representatives prevails, however for any additional details please contact Adam Cole "mailto:adam.cole@mcc.org.uk"
