Education

Educating participants on corruption threats enables them to recognise when a corrupt offer is being made, how to reject it and report it. Ensuring teams and staff are provided with anti-corruption education is vital.

The ICC and its’ Member Boards are responsible for all formats of international and domestic cricket played around the world. Maintaining the Integrity of the sport is the responsibility of us all. The ICC is committed to supporting its Member Boards in Anti-Corruption awareness and education. It has been encouraging to see the delivery of anti-corruption education at the domestic cricket level.

It is recommended that education sessions are conducted prior to an event in order to pro-actively equip participants with the knowledge and resources needed to protect themselves, their team, and the game. This aligns directly with one of the ICC ACU’s priorities and principals, Prevention. The ICC regional teams have been actively ensuring key anti-corruption messages are delivered prior to the commencement of the ICC pathway events.

A simple education session delivered at domestic or Associate Member level could comprise a 10-15 minute briefing on key Anti-Corruption messages utilising the various material provided by the ICC ACU. This includes recognizing something is suspicious, knowing what to do and how to report the matter to the ACU.
