England pacer ruled out of West Indies ODI series

Right-arm quick Gus Atkinson sustained a hamstring injury during the one-off Test against Zimbabwe.

England have been dealt with an injury blow ahead of the upcoming three-match ODI series against West Indies.

Pacer Gus Atkinson has been ruled out from the three-match series owing to a hamstring strain picked up during the recently concluded one-off Test against Zimbabwe in Nottingham.

A statement from England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that the 27-year-old will undergo ‘a period of rehabilitation under the supervision of the England medical team’.

Meanwhile, no replacement will be named for Atkinson as the 15-member ODI squad gears up for a first assignment under new white-ball skipper Harry Brook.

ODI Squad: Harry Brook (c), Jofra Archer, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler, Brydon Carse, Ben Duckett, Tom Hartley, Will Jacks, Saqib Mahmood, Jamie Overton, Matthew Potts, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jamie Smith.

T20I Squad: Harry Brook (c), Rehan Ahmed, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler, Brydon Carse, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Saqib Mahmood, Jamie Overton, Matthew Potts, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Luke Wood.

England will lock horns with the Windies over three ODIs starting 29 May, followed by as many T20Is.

The squad sees a revamp following England's disappointing Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, where they lost all three games in the group stage, thereby resulting in Jos Buttler stepping down from his role as the white-ball skipper.
