A prolific career draws to a close as Heather Knight retires from international cricket. She announced that the ongoing Test against India will be her final international outing.

The historic Test was the first-ever Women's Test at Lord's and followed England's stellar home ICC Women's T20 World Cup campaign, which saw them finish second to Australia.

Heather Knight produced a classy knock of 58 off 47 balls against South Africa at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026.

Watch Heather Knight bring up her hundred in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup clash between India and England.

Having made her international debut in 2010, Knight went on to become a regular of the England setup and contributed with her bat as well as a captain, during her tenure from 2016 to 2025.

"I'm extremely grateful and privileged to have gone on the journey that I have been on as an England cricketer," Knight recalled her time as an England cricketer. "It's hard to walk away because the dressing-room and the people in the dressing-room have been a constant in my life for 16 years, and the memories and the experiences and the people have helped shape me become who I am today, but I'm really content with this decision and I'm really excited for what's next."

The biggest day of Knight's cricketing career came perhaps against India in 2017, when her side overcame the fight from the Asian side to secure their ICC Women's Cricket World Cup title under her captaincy.

Knight finishes with 4372 ODI runs and 2656 T20I runs. With her final innings to go in Tests, she has 976 runs and can still cross the 1000 run landmark in the format.

She joins fellow England batter Tammy Beaumont, who had also announced her retirement from the game following the Lord's encounter.
