England white-ball coach Brendon McCullum wants his side to learn from their recent ODI tri-series in Pakistan when they take on Australia in the upcoming limited over series Down Under.

McCullum's side arrived in Perth on Monday ahead of eight white-ball fixtures (three ODIs and five T20Is) with the Aussies from 13 November, of which will provide the team further time to fine-tune their preparation for next year's ICC Men's Cricket World Cup.

CWC27 venues and brand unveiled in a star-studded ceremony

A momentous ceremony in Johannesburg saw the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027 venues and brand announced.

The trip to Australia is England's first since their disastrous Ashes campaign at the start of the year, but McCullum didn't want to dwell on past indiscretions and was instead looking towards the future and what his team can produce on Australian shores this time around.

"Firstly, it's nice to be back," McCullum said.

"An Australia tour is always a great tour. The cricket's always pretty competitive. We'll play at some great stadiums, against a good side, and continue to test our methods, towards the one-day World Cup.

"We know we need to keep getting better, but we've been presented with some good opportunities, and this will be one of those the next couple of weeks.

"We want to play a high-octane, robust style of play, which demands fitness elements to it.

"So for us, this is a great opportunity to have a little fitness block in and around the demand of this series."

Scoop of sheer genius from Brook | T20WC 2026

England skipper Harry Brook leading by example again with a spectacular strike for six against New Zealand at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.

England showed glimpses of their best form during the tri-series in Pakistan, with skipper Harry Brook and opener Ben Duckett among the players to score freely across the four matches as Liam Dawson, Sonny Baker and Jamie Overton all made an impact with the ball.

Ultimately the side only one won match and missed out on a spot in the final, though McCullum believes the tri-series provided his side the opportunity to test themselves against different opposition which will hold them in good stead for the World Cup that will be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia at the end of next year.

"Yeah, it was disappointing," McCullum said.

"Obviously, it was great to play in the tri-series. With the view towards the World Cup, the ability to be able to bounce between games, and different tactics, and different oppositions was good.

"We obviously didn't quite achieve what we wanted to, but we played some really good cricket and learned some great lessons. They should hold you in good stead in 12 months.

"We've got a pretty inexperienced team. These guys haven't played a lot of one-day cricket, so any opportunity to get experience and education, and those pressure moments, so that you can start to just understand a little bit better, it's going to be good."
