England U19 T20 squad against Sri Lanka announced

The England & Wales Cricket Board announced its U19 squad for the Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka U19s beginning on 2 August in Durham.

Paul Best will captain the England U19 side in the two-match series. Seam bowler James Thorpe and opening batsman Alex Barrow have been named in the squad for the first time.

England U19 coach, Adrian Birrell, said: "This T20 series provides a great opportunity to showcase the young talent in this country against a very good Sri Lanka U19 team. Good performances in these matches and the one-day series that follows will provide a crucial platform for those players looking to further progress up the ladder in the national set up."

An England U17 squad has also been named for a one-day game against Sri Lanka U19 on 5 August at Sleaford Cricket Club, Lincolnshire, ahead of the first ODI between England U19 and Sri Lanka U19 at Fenner's on 7 August. The England U19 ODI squad for the five-match series will be announced after the T20 series.

England U19 T20 squad: Paul Best (captain), Alex Barrow, Adam Ball, Jacob Ball, Matthew Dunn, Lewis Gregory, Ateeq Javid, Jack Manuel, David Payne, Adam Rossington, Joe Root, James Thorpe, Luke Wells.

England U17 One Day squad: Daniel Bell-Drummond (captain), Shozair Ali, Graham Clark, Ben Collins, Ben Foakes, Sam Kelsall, Aneesh Kapil, Tom Milnes, Adam Rossington, Andrew Salter, Rammy Singh, Reece Topley, Shiv Thakor.
