England’s Sarah Taylor becomes No.2 ranked batter

England’s Sarah Taylor has become the second-ranked batter in the Reliance ICC Women’s Player Rankings for ODI batters after a successful three-match ODI series against the West Indies, which concluded on Sunday.
The latest rankings were released after England beat the West Indies by 89 runs in the third and final ODI in Port of Spain to win the series 2-0. After the first match was declared a no-result due to rain, England took a 1-0 lead when it won the second ODI by seven wickets.
Taylor had scores of 55 not out and 100 to record the highest aggregate of the series, 155. For this achievement, the 24-year-old wicketkeeper-batter was rewarded with 60 ratings points, which has helped her jump six places to second on the batting chart.
Taylor, who was adjudged player of the series, now trails number-one ranked Mithali Raj of India by 10 ratings points.

Taylor had a modest series, making eight runs in two ODIs.
England captain Charlotte Edwards is another batter to slip in the latest rankings. The ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year 2008 dropped four places to seventh after scoring 12 runs in the series.
When Edwards captained England in Sunday’s ODI, she equaled former Australia skipper and ICC Hall of Famer Belinda Clark’s record of captaining her side in 101 ODIs.
Other batters to move upwards in the batting rankings are West Indies’ Shemaine Campbelle in 41st (up by two places), Shaquana Quintyne in 49th (up by 36) and Tammy Beaumont in 83rd (up by eight).
In the Reliance ICC Women Player Rankings for ODI bowlers, the England duo of Jenny Gunn and Holly Colvin has closed in on the top three, with Gunn moving up two places to fifth and Colvin climbing two places to eighth. Colvin was the leading wicket-taker of the series, with the left-arm bowler claiming six wickets for 24 runs to gain 37 ratings points, while Gunn’s two wickets in the series resulted in a gain of 14 ratings points.
Outside of the top 10, West Indies’ Tremayne Smartt has moved up three places to 20th, Danielle Hazell has moved up one place to 31st, Subrina Munroe has climbed seven spots to 62nd, and Natalie Sciver has jumped 29 places to 83rd.
The Reliance ICC Women Player Rankings for ODI bowlers continues to be headed by Stafanie Taylor, who also tops the Reliance ICC Women’s Player Rankings for ODI all-rounders, followed by Australia’s Ellyse Perry in second and West Indies’ Shanel Daley in third.
