European Development Manager's flying visit to Belgium

The EDM flew into Brussels at 9am on Wednesday 28 March and departed 12 hours later. During his brief visit he met Ken Farmiloe (Chairman Belgian Cricket Federation) Martin O'Connor (Honorary Secretary) and Paul LariviËre (Youth Development Officer).

Three indoor centres offering on-site accommodation were visited, along with a number of local hotels. A further meeting took place at Paul LariviËre's home - on the birthday of his very understanding wife! - and the finer details of this ground breaking tournament were discussed.

Invitations to the 12 teams that participated at the 2001 tournament held in Portugal will be sent out following the 2001 summer tournament season.

Up to four other countries will also be invited to participate. This will not only strengthen the playing standard of the competition but result in two divisions being formed for the 2002 tournament - all adding spice to a tournament which will surely go down in the annals of European cricketing history.
