Event debriefing and reviewing processes

SECURITY

After all major events, the ICC conducts a full debriefing process of the safety and security arrangements to ensure that the published plans were delivered effectively and to seek feedback from the Host Board and participating Teams to recognise good practice and learn any lessons. For example, post the recent Men’s Champion’s Trophy staged in Pakistan and Dubai, four actionable pieces of feedback emerged with respect to staging an event within a high security environment: namely.

  • The value of independent risk assessment to inform the planning of events which is both timely, transparent and comprehensive.
  • The importance of good communication with Board Security Managers prior to, and during, an event so that all stakeholders are appropriately sighted and briefed on significant threats.
  • Emphasising the value of varied and appropriate non cricketing activity options for participants, within a stringent security environment, to support high performance and individual well-being.
  • The critical importance of good multi agency relationships between the ICC, host Boards and local law enforcement to ensure comprehensive planning and effective delivery of safety and security for participants and patrons.

We welcome your contributions and feedback so that a rich picture of views can be incorporated into our processes. Please reach out at any junction to the ICC Safety and Security Manager, Dr David Musker.

ICC Safety and Security will always seek to incorporate this feedback into the planning and delivery of future events.
