Event Technical Committee approves replacement in England women’s squad for the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016

The ICC has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016 has approved Laura Marsh as a replacement player for Danielle Hazell in England's women's squad for the tournament.

Hazell strained her left calf muscle during her side's training session in Dharamsala on Monday.

Marsh, 29, was a member of the England side which won the inaugural ICC Women's World Twenty20 2009 in England. A right-handed top order batter and a useful bowler, Marsh is a veteran of seven Tests, 72 ODIs and 58 T20Is. In the shortest format of the game, Marsh has scored 734 runs and taken 56 wickets.

Any injury or illness-based replacement requires a written submission to the Event Technical Committee along with a diagnosis from a medical practitioner as to the extent of the injury or illness. Once replaced, a player may not return to the squad save as an approved subsequent replacement for another injured or ill player.

The Event Technical Committee of the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016 is Geoff Allardice (ICC General Manager - Cricket, Chairman), Anurag Thakur (host representative), MV Sridhar (Tournament Director), Campbell Jamieson (IBC representative & ICC General Manager - Commercial), and Ian Bishop and Nick Knight ((independent nominees).

England has played two matches and won both. Its next match is against the West Indies (24 March, Dharamsala), while its last league match will be against Pakistan (27 March, Chennai).
