The ICC has confirmed the event technical committee of the ICC World Cricket League Division 1 has approved Wesley Barresi as a replacement player for Nick Statham in the Netherlands squad for the tournament, which starts tomorrow.

The confirmation was conveyed to Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond (KNCB) on behalf of the event technical committee on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman is yet to make his ODI debut though he has played in seven first-class matches for the Netherlands in which he has scored 180 runs and taken 11 catches behind the wickets.

Any injury-based replacement requires a written submission to the event technical committee along with a diagnosis from a medical practitioner as to the extent of the injury. Once replaced, a player cannot return to the squad.

As with all players in the tournament, the eligibility of a replacement player is subject to approval by the ICC before that player can be officially added to the squad.

The event technical committee of the ICC World Cricket League Division 1 consists of David Richardson (ICC General Manager ? Cricket and event technical committee chairman), Rob Kemming (tournament director), Richard Done (ICC representative), Rene van Ierschot (KNCB representative), Chris Kelly (independent nomination) and Keith Bradshaw (independent nomination).

The Netherlands will take on the Scotland in its opening match at VRA in Amstelveen.
