Fatima wants improvement from Pakistan in Asia Cup semis
Pakistan turn their attention to Sri Lanka in the semi-finals of the Asia Cup, knowing they need to improve in all facets of their game.
Pakistan captain Fatima Sana knows her team must improve if they are to defeat Sri Lanka in the knockout semi-final at the Asia Cup on Friday.
Fatima's side booked their spot in the final four with an emphatic 72-run victory over Hong Kong, China on Monday, with experienced spinner Nashra Sundhu leading the way with a six-wicket haul and the best T20I figures of all time by any Pakistan bowler.
It bodes well for Pakistan ahead of their clash against unbeaten Sri Lanka at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday, but Fatima believes her team needs to improve many facets of their game if they are to defeat the island nation.
“I think in the batting side we need more, like strike rotation in the batting, and we need more partnerships. And we will try to sit together and discuss these things,” Fatima said after the win over Hong Kong, China.
“So we just go and sit together and discuss a lot of things before the semi-final because we know that it's a knockout match, so we will try.”
While Hong Kong, China failed to pick up a victory from their three matches at the tournament, skipper Natasha Miles was proud of their efforts from her side as they mixed it with some of the strongest teams in women's cricket for much of the event.
Hong Kong, China also narrowly missed out on defeating Thailand in their first match at the tournament when they went down by six runs and Miles suggested it was a great learning experience for her side.
“It’s been super," Miles said.
"Always playing this standard of cricket is going to test you and it’s going to get you to learn more about your game, about yourselves.
"It’s been a really fun campaign, exciting, and hopefully we get to come and do this a few more times."
