Training for the Woman's National Squad, U17 and U19 National Squad's is well underway around the country with training sessions being held on Monday and Friday Afternoon as Cricket Fiji staff and nominated coaches put the hopefuls through their paces.

The weather that has been experienced across Fiji affected some squad members from getting to training particularly in the west.

Despite these challenges Cricket Fiji is pleased to see the effort and commitment being put in by those who did manage to get to get to training, despite doing their fitness assessments in appalling conditions.

Cricket Fiji High Performance Manager Stephen Jenkin is happy with the way training is progressing, particularly with the woman's squad;

"There is a lot of new squad members who are learning some of the basics to ensure they are best prepared to have a legitimate chance of making the team to Vanuatu," said Jenkins. "Training is also progressing well in the west and there is a focus on improving the various squads fitness levels at the moment in training to get them to those levels expected of international players."

Cricket Fiji's Womens national team will travel to Vanuatu in May to play in the East Asia-Pacific Women's Championship against Vanuatu, PNG, Samoa, the Cook Islands and Japan.

The touring side will be announced in early April. The winners of this tournament will progress directly into the International Cricket Council Women?s World Cup qualifiers.

Fiji will host the EAP Uner 17 Tri-Nations tournament with PNG and Vanuatu in August, with the final squad of 14 due to be announced in July.
