First away series win in 17 years would be a 'wonderful achievement' – Brendan Taylor
In response to the home side's mammoth total of 522/7, Taylor and Peter Moor put on a spirited stand of 139 to drag their side to 304 all out. Having won the first Test in emphatic style to notch their first away win in the format for 17 years, Taylor acknowledged just how much an unlikely series win would mean to him and his teammates.
"I can't tell you what it will mean for us," he remarked following the conclusion of play.
"It will be an incredible feeling and a wonderful achievement. Bangladesh have generally dominated us here for years, so even just to get a Test win was huge in Sylhet. That's something that I will cherish for a long time."
Taylor was buoyed by his hundred but realistic about his side's chances in this match. "We're not going to win this game, we can only draw this game. The discussion tonight will be that we have a lot to play for. There's no lying down and giving up, we have to keep fighting."
Taylor's century was his first on foreign soil in a 14-year Test career, and the Zimbabwe stalwart was in high praise of the Bangladesh bowlers, who he believes have one of the trickier spin attacks that he has faced.
Brendan Taylor made his first Test century away from home, but it was still Bangladesh's day as they bowled Zimbabwe out for 304 and secured a lead of 218.

"I have played more Test matches against Bangladesh but I always felt that they are one of the harder teams to play because of their spinners. Over the years (Abdur) Razzak, Shakib (Al Hasan) and even Mohammed Rafique, they've always been a tough challenge, whether we play in Harare or Bulawayo. So, today is probably one of my better ones," he said.
He also saluted Taijul Islam who grabbed a five-wicket haul in the first innings for the hosts to bring his tally for the series up to 16 wickets in three innings. "Taijul is in some serious form. He's stepped up into the gap with Shakib not being there. When they play together, they are a very strong attack. He's done an incredible job."
