Five bowlers who could give your fantasy points a massive push

While your fantasy team may be full of batsmen and all-rounders, these bowlers might just prove to be the difference, given how they are consistently good in giving points.

Lungi Ngidi (South Africa)

The South African seamer was ruled out of the IPL with an injury but is expected to be fit for the event in England. A quick seam bowler who gets movement off the deck and relies on his hard lengths to pick up wickets, Ngidi is a wicket-taker. In the 18 matches after the Champions Trophy in ODIs, Ngidi has 34 wickets at an average of 21.64 and a bowling strike rate of 24.3. This means he gets a wicket every 25th ball on an average. As you know, wickets are gold in fantasy cricket and Ngidi's advantage is that he gets plenty of them.

Rashid Khan (Afghanistan)

The Afghanistan leg-spinner is known for his exploits in T20 cricket. A demolishing force in the middle overs, Rashid controls the flow of the game pretty well. Given that he is likely to bowl in tandem with a Mohammad Nabi or a Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, Rashid can't always be played out. He has a whopping 60 wickets in 28 matches at a strike rate of 23.8. You do not want to go into a daily contest involving Afghanistan without Rashid Khan in your team, which ever team he is up against.

Oshane Thomas' ability to strike early and strike frequently makes him a fantasy player with great return on investment

Shaheen Shah Afridi (Pakistan)

At 19, the Pakistan left-arm speedster has been a revelation in international cricket. Afridi has 19 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 19.36. He strikes frequently, and is economical as evident from figures of 4.78 since debut. He has troubled batsmen of the calibre of Faf du Plessis and Kane Williamson. He comes off the back of two four wicket hauls on the trot against New Zealand in Dubai. He will be a differential in your fantasy team, particularly if you are in to win a round contest in season fantasy.

Oshane Thomas (West Indies)

Oshane Thomas has the best strike rate in ODIs (among World Cup-bound teams) since his debut for bowlers with a minimum of 15 wickets. The fiery West Indian seamer was a terrifying proposition in Windies' tour of India last year and hasn't looked back since. His ability to strike early and strike frequently makes him a fantasy player with great return on investment. Another advantage with Thomas is that he is likely to be a medium-priced player. Given the projected points he is likely to earn, the West Indian is a handy differential.

Liam Plunkett (England)

The first thing people notice about Plunkett is his ODI economy rate of 5.87. Since the previous major event in England, the ICC Men's Champions Trophy in 2017, Plunkett has 33 wickets in 23 matches at a strike rate of 27.3, higher than that of Adil Rashid (28.7), Chris Woakes (34.4) and Tom Curran (28.8). In fact, he has the best strike rate among England bowlers in this time frame. Whatever his fallacies in terms of economy, Plunkett is an underrated pick in fantasy teams. In a private fantasy league with your friends, this England seamer could be a game-changer for you.
