West Indies coach Ottis Gibson has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee after being found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the drawn second Test between the West Indies and Australia which finished in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, on Thursday.

Gibson was charged with a Level 1 offence, contrary to clause 2.1.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players or Team Officials which covers inappropriate public comment.

Gibson pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction so there was no need for a formal hearing.

Jeff Crowe of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees, said: "In the pre-series meetings it was agreed that players and coaches should not engage in negative media comments. Ottis accepts that he overstepped the mark during the game and has now accepted his sanction."

The incident took place on Tuesday when, during the post-third days play media briefing, Gibson challenged the efficacy of the Decision Review System (DRS) and its implementation by the match officials.

The charge was laid by on-field umpires Marais Erasmus and Ian Gould, as well as third umpire Tony Hill, all from the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires.

All Level one breaches carry a minimum penalty of warning/reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of the match fee.
