A single round-robin format will determine the winner across action from 1-8 September, as Cook Islands, Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, Papua New Guinea and Samoa join the hosts.

In conjunction to the tournament on the field, the ICC is also hosting the 100% Cricket Leadership Program which focuses on players, commentators, and coaches. The program is supported by Australian Government’s PacificAus Sports, and facilitated by Australian cricketers and media personalities Mel Jones, Julia Price, and Cathryn Fitzpatrick, as well as representatives from Australian Cricket and New Zealand Cricket.

On the field, Papua New Guinea come into the tournament as favourites, though will face stiff competition most notably from the hosts, and also Indonesia, who boast an Under-19 T20 World Cup appearance earlier in the year.

Indonesia are a team full of confidence and has the help of New Zealand's Frankie Mackay at the U19 Women's T20 World Cup.

After a successful Men's T20 World Cup Sub-regional Qualifier late last year, Vanuatu Cricket Association CEO Tim Cutler says hosting the upcoming women's event is a testament to the hard work of many in the country, particularly after bouncing back after multiple cyclones earlier in the year.

“With all the disruption due to the pandemic in 2022 and Tropical Cyclones Judy and Kevin in March we are proud to be hosting our second ICC T20 World Cup qualifying event in under a year.

“Our national women’s cricket team is the country’s highest ranked team and under the guidance of new coach Joshua Rasu we look forward to watching Selina Solman’s squad continue to represent the country with honour."

East Asia-Pacific Regional Development Manager Rob Gomm believes a number of new faces will shine on the regional stage, also excited to see the 100% Cricket Leadership Program run concurrently.

"With four years since the last event, the competition is wide-open with a number of debutants across each team.

“We wanted to utilise having close to 100 female athletes in attendance and have designed the sessions to enhance their leadership capability and develop their off-field skills."

All matches at the event will be streamed live and FREE on ICC.tv.
