Goswami named as new skipper

Fast bowler Jhulan Goswami has been named as the new captain of the India women’s team for its trip to Australia later this month.

Goswami replaces Mithali Raj, who led India in a disappointing 4-0 ODI series defeat to England in September.

The India squad will play five ODIs and one Twenty20 match in Australia, in preparation for the ICC Women’s World Cup which begins in March next year.

They will prepare for the trip by attending a five-day training camp in Mumbai which begins next week.
