Harry Brook to miss England Men’s Test tour of India

The batter will return home with immediate effect.

England batter Harry Brook has withdrawn from the India v England Test series, which begins on 25 January.

The England and Wales Cricket Board have stated that Brook is set to return home with immediate effect and will not come back to India.

The Brook family have requested for privacy for a personal matter and no further explanation regarding the same has been provided.

Harry Brook's 102* off 84 against Bangladesh

24-year-old Brook made his Test debut in 2022 and since then has played 12 Tests, scoring 1181 runs with four hundreds and seven fifties. This would have been his first tour of India.

England announced Dan Lawrence as Brook's replacement. Lawrence has played 11 Tests in his career and was part of the squad the last time England toured India in 2021.

The five-match series will take place from 25 January to 11 March with the first match in Hyderabad. The last time England toured India was in 2020-21 with India winning the series 3-1.
