Hat-trick hero Taylor stars as West Indies complete clean sweep

Taylor claimed a hat-trick as her side bowled Pakistan out for 102, before scoring an unbeaten 43 off 41 in the chase.

Looking to bounce back after tight defeats in the first two matches of the series, Pakistan elected to bat first in Antigua.

The tourists raced out of the blocks as Muneeba Ali and Javeria Khan put on 21 runs in the first two and a half overs, only for the opening stand to be broken by Shamilia Connell (2/24), who dismissed Khan for six.

Connell struck again in her next over, dismissing Ali for 18, and wickets fell at regular intervals from there with Nida Dar (17) and Aliya Riaz (29) the only other Pakistanis to pass 10.

Riaz was the first of four batters to fall to Taylor (4/17), perishing in the 16th over to leave Pakistan 80/7, with the final three knocked over in consecutive deliveries in the 20th.

With the dismissals of Fatima Sana (1), Diana Baig (5) and Anam Amin (0), Taylor became just the second West Indies player to take a hat-trick in a women’s T20I.

Defending the small target of 103, Pakistan got off to a good start with the ball as Amin (1/18) removed Hayley Matthews (1) in the second over before Baig knocked over Deandra Dottin (14) and Kyshona Knight (0) to leave the West Indies 17/3 in the third over.

But from there, Taylor got the chase back on track, putting on 41 runs with Chedean Nation (20) before finishing things off with Kycia Knight, who notched an unbeaten 24.

The two sides will next meet on Wednesday in the first of five ODIs.
