Hayden makes a century of Tests

As Australia take on New Zealand at Adelaide in the second Test of the two-Test series, the destructive Aussie batsman Matthew Hayden will step on the field for the 100th time, to represent the baggy green.

For 37- year-old Hayden, who appeared in only 7 Tests in the first six years of his international career has now represented the Kangaroos in 99 Tests and has amassed 8,484 runs at a brilliant average of 52.

The flamboyant opener has been struggling with his form since he suffered from an Achilles injury in the mid year but has ruled out any plans of retirement in near future.

Commentating on the constant inferences about his future Hayden said that after playing international cricket for so long he is used to such speculations and that he takes people’s changing perceptions in his own strides to as a motivation to improve with each game.

Hayden, who will become the 11th Australian to make a century of Tests is considered to be one of the most committed cricketers of the era and he himself takes pride in the fact that his hunger and determination today is as strong as it was 20 years ago.

The Aussie also believes that though the results are never certain to come, the hard work at least gives him an assurance on his preparation.

As the strong willower sets his foot on the Adelaide Cricket ground on Friday with Australia leading the series 1-0, he will definitely be looking to convert his preparation into performance and make his 100th Test a memorable one for himself and his team.
