'He's able to structure his six balls' – Upton on Archer
Turning out for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League 2019, Archer finished with excellent figures of 3/15 in his four overs against Kings XI Punjab on Tuesday, 16 April. This included an incredible 15 dot balls, while conceding just one boundary.
He took the big wicket of Chris Gayle, getting the opener to edge one that deviated to the wicket-keeper. Then, bowling the 19th over of the game, he turned momentum to his side by giving away just three runs while taking two wickets in a superlative demonstration of death bowling.
“If he was to come in and someone was to miss out, it would be extremely unfortunate.”

It wasn't enough to win his side the match, but with 10 wickets in the eight games of the tournament so far, the tall pace bowler has offered regular reminders of just what he can do if he's picked in the England World Cup squad, which is set to be announced on Wednesday.
Paddy Upton, the Rajasthan coach, was all praise for the "exceptional" bowler. "He has been amazing," he said. "He's a highly skilled bowler, he's able to structure his six balls, he seems to know what balls to bowl at what time, and his execution is awesome."
The Barbados-born Archer only recently met the qualification requirement to play for England. If he's picked in the World Cup squad of 15, it will be without the selectors ever having seen him in England colours. They could, however, also include him in the matches against Pakistan, which serve as preparation for the premier tournament, and slot him into the final squad depending on how he does.
Chris Woakes, the England pacer, pointed out on Tuesday that there were several unknowns about Archer, and Mark Wood, another contender in the pace department, echoed his sentiment.
England’s selectors need to ask themselves 2 questions: (1) Will Joffra Archer make our already excellent team better? (2) Are our captain and coach good man managers? If the answer to both is yes then Archer fits seamlessly into the team culture & set-up.

"There is no doubt that Jofra is a world-class player. He plays in the hardest tournaments, the IPL and the Big Bash, and excels," Wood said. "He would obviously be a great asset but would that affect the dynamic of the team?"
Admitting that there was "no easy route", he added, "Would I want to see someone like a Liam Plunkett who has been our best bowler for three years left out? No. Would I want to see myself left out? Obviously not. Would I want to see David Willey, who I am close friends with and someone who gives you a left-arm option, left out? No. Would I want to see Chris Woakes, another friend who has taken loads of wickets, left out? No. Or Tom Curran, who has bowled well.
"It is hard to see. Does anyone deserve to be left out? I don’t know."
