Ian Bell ruled out of Test Series against Pakistan

England batsman Ian Bell has officially been ruled out of the forthcoming Test series against Pakistan due to the foot injury he suffered on Saturday during the second ODI against Bangladesh.

ECB Chief Medical Officer, Nick Peirce, said: "Ian underwent a routine operation last night on the fractured metatarsal in his left foot. He will now undergo a course of rehabilitation that will see him ruled out of the upcoming Pakistan Test series.

"We expect Ian to make a full recovery but his participation in the NatWest Series against Pakistan in September will be reviewed in due course once he has made significant progress with his rehabilitation programme."

England's schedule for the remainder of the summer is as follows:

Test Series, England vs Pakistan

1st Test - Trent Bridge, July 29-Aug 2
2nd Test - Edgbaston, Aug 6-10
3rd Test - The Oval, Aug 18-22
4th Test - Lord's, Aug 26-30
