ICC announces umpire and referee appointments for upcoming series in the UAE
Dubai Sports City Cricket Stadium set to become the 172nd venue in the world to host an ODI
The ICC today announced details of umpire and match referee appointments for the upcoming ODI series between Pakistan and Australia to be staged in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Jeff Crowe of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees will lead the playing control team in the five-match ODI and one Twenty20 International (T20I) series that will be played from 22 April to 7 May.
The ICC-appointed on-field umpire for the ODIs will be Billy Bowden of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires who will stand along with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointments while the T20I will be umpired entirely by the PCB appointees.
When the brand-new Dubai Sports City Cricket Stadium hosts the opening match of the series on 22 April, it will become the 172nd venue and the third in the UAE to stage an ODI. Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium, which will host the last three ODIs of the series, became the 157th ODI venue when it staged the Pakistan versus India match on 18 April 2006 while Sharjah Cricket Stadium was the 58th ODI venue when it hosted its first contest in April 1984.
