ICC announces umpire and referee appointments for upcoming Test and ODI series

The ICC today announced details of umpire and match referee appointments for upcoming Test and ODI series in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

West Indies will kick off its tour of South Africa with a Twenty20 International (T20I) in Port Elizabeth this Sunday. The match will be overseen by Ranjan Madugalle of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees while the game will be umpired by Cricket South Africa appointees.

The focus will then shift to the three-Test series with Port Elizabeth hosting the Boxing Day Test. The series opener will be officiated by Aleem Dar of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and Russell Tiffin of the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires. Tiffin will be joined by Simon Taufel of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires for the second Test in Cape Town.

Dar and Taufel will stand in the third and final Test starting in Durban on 10 January.

The series will be overseen by Roshan Mahanama of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees who will hand over the charge to Javagal Srinath, also of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees, for the T20I and the ODI series that follows the Test series.

The 18 January T20I in Johannesburg, which will serve as the curtain-raiser for the five-match ODI series, will be umpired by Cricket South Africa appointees while Daryl Harper of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires will stand in the entire ODI series along with local appointments.

Meanwhile, Australia will be hosting India in a four-Test series which will be overseen by Mike Procter of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees. Mark Benson and Billy Bowden, both from the Emirates Elite Panel, will be in charge of the Melbourne Test while Benson will be joined by Steve Bucknor, also from the Emirates Elite Panel, for the second Test in Sydney.

Asad Rauf from the Emirates Elite Panel will team up with Bucknor for the third Test in Perth and Bowden for the fourth Test in Adelaide.

In New Zealand, the Black Caps will be hosting Bangladesh in a three-ODI and two-Test series that will be overseen by Chris Broad of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees. The first two ODIs in Auckland and Napier will be umpired by Steve Bucknor of the Emirates Elite Panel while Nigel Llong of the Emirates International Panel of Umpires will stand in the third ODI in Queenstown. The second on-field umpires in those matches will be appointed by New Zealand Cricket.

The attention will then shift to the two-Test series which will be played in Dunedin and Wellington. Llong and Peter Parker, both from the Emirates International Panel of Umpires, will be the umpires.

Appointments for future matches and series will be announced in due course.
