ICC approve Mauritius as latest Member nation at Annual Conference
The ICC Board has approved the admission of Mauritius as its 111th Member during its Annual Conference in Edinburgh, among other administrative decisions.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) Board has approved the admission of Mauritius as the 111th Member of the ICC, marking another significant milestone in the global growth of cricket. The decision underscores the ICC's continued commitment to expanding the game's reach, strengthening its presence in emerging markets, and creating greater opportunities for participation and development around the world.
A Governance Review Committee has been formed, comprising of Devajit Saikia (BCCI), with Dr Mohammed Moosajee (Cricket South Africa) and Dr Ros Rivaz (ICC Independent Director) serving as members.
The Board also established a Franchise Leagues Committee, comprising of Tamim Iqbal (Bangladesh Cricket Board - Chair), Dr Rudie van Vuuren (Cricket Namibia), Devajit Saikia (BCCI), Richard Gould (England and Wales Cricket Board) and Todd Greenberg (Cricket Australia).
Among other decisions, the ICC Board approved a loan of USD 12.82 million to Cricket West Indies to support the Member Board.
The Board also made several key decisions regarding ICC membership. It approved the Reinstatement Conditions for Cricket Canada, outlining the requirements that must be met before its suspension from ICC Membership can be lifted. Cricket Canada will remain suspended until those conditions have been fully met.
The Board also received an update on Sri Lanka Cricket, noting progress towards adopting a revised Constitution. It reiterated the importance of holding elections as soon as possible and agreed that Sri Lanka Cricket would remain unable to be represented at ICC Board meetings for the time being.
In addition, the Board recognised the appointment of the newly elected President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board as the Member's Full Member Director. The ICC Annual General Meeting also placed France Cricket on Notice for breaches of the ICC Membership Criteria.
