ICC congratulates Rod Tucker on landmark 100th Test
The Australian became just the fourth umpire in the history of the game to officiate in 100 Test matches.
Australian umpire Rod Tucker reached a landmark 100th Test during the opening Test of the ICC World Test Championship 25-27 series between England and New Zealand at Lord’s.
To commemorate the occasion, he was presented with a crystal trophy by former ICC Test umpire Ian Gould before the start of play.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah paid tribute to Tucker’s outstanding contribution to the game and his distinguished career as an umpire.
“Rod is a very respected umpire whose consistency and professionalism have earned him the respect of peers, players and fans around the world. One to always perform well and capable of ensuring smooth conduct of games under pressure, he has been amongst the best of his era.
“This 100-Test milestone really shows how much trust cricket administrators have had in him over the years, and his experience has been invaluable. He is a source of inspiration for other umpires around the world, and one others reach out to for guidance.
“On behalf of the ICC, I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Rod on this incredible achievement and thank him for his exceptional dedication to the game.”

Reflecting on the milestone, Tucker expressed his gratitude to the organisations and individuals who have supported him throughout his career.
“Cricket has always been my passion, and I feel privileged to have had such a lengthy career as an international umpire. Standing in my 100th Test is a dream come true, and I look back on this journey with deep fondness and gratitude.
“I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the ICC and Cricket Australia for their unwavering support over the years. I am also grateful to the Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association of New South Wales for their encouragement during my early career.
“A special thanks to my colleagues on the elite panel and my family for their continuous support. I couldn’t have reached this milestone without them. I look forward to continuing this rewarding journey in the years ahead with enthusiasm.”

Tucker joins an exclusive group of officials to have reached the century mark in Test cricket, alongside Aleem Dar (145 Tests), Steve Bucknor (128) and Rudi Koertzen (108).
A member of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Umpires since 2010, Tucker made his Test umpiring debut in Hamilton during New Zealand’s match against Bangladesh in February of that year.
Having first been appointed to the Emirates ICC International Panel of Umpires in 2008, he officiated in his first One-Day International and T20I matches in 2009.

He became the 13th umpire to stand in 50 Test matches when he officiated in the second Test between South Africa and Sri Lanka in Cape Town in January 2017, before reaching the latest milestone at Lord’s.
Before embarking on a successful umpiring career, Tucker enjoyed more than a decade in Australia’s domestic circuit as a seam-bowling all-rounder representing New South Wales and Tasmania. Across 103 first-class matches between 1986 and 1999, the left-handed batter scored 5,076 runs and claimed 123 wickets with his medium-pace bowling.
Tucker’s international umpiring career has seen him officiate at some of cricket’s biggest global events, including four ICC Men’s Cricket World Cups (2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023), three ICC Men’s Champions Trophy tournaments (2013, 2017 and 2025), and nine ICC Men’s T20 World Cups between 2009 and 2026.
Among the highlights of his career are officiating in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2013 final between England and India and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2016 final between the West Indies and England.
