ICC Dream11 Daily Fantasy tips: New Zealand v Sri Lanka

New Zealand
New Zealand

While the Kiwis are among the four sides expected to make it to the semi-finals, Sri Lanka have flown under the radar due to their below-par performances in the build-up to the World Cup. The head to head match-ups has also been lop-sided with the Kiwis losing just one of their last eight ODIs against Sri Lanka.

Ground overview:

Cardiff Wales Stadium in Cardiff is another high-scoring venue if the warm-up matches are anything to go by. While a possibility of rain persists, both teams will want to line their team up with big hitters for this game.

Fantasy Team

Wicket-Keeper(s)

Kusal Mendis and Tom Latham

While Mendis hasn't been in good form, he is among the few batsmen that can be trusted from the Sri Lankan side. Tom Latham might be a strong presence in New Zealand's middle-order and is a better batsman than most rate him to be. He is a fantastic pick in your fantasy team.

Batsmen

Angelo Mathews, Lahiru Thirimanne, Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor

While big hitters can be banked upon, the mainstays in the batting department of both sides are must picks. Angelo Mathews and Lahiru Thirimanne cover your Sri Lankan needs along with Kusal Mendis. Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor alongside another all-rounder should suffice in the batting department. Martin Guptill and Dimuth Karunaratne are good alternatives but with the ball expected to swing early and both sides having good seamers, the middle order batsmen are safer bets.

All-Rounder

Thisara Perera and James Neesham

James Neesham was in outstanding form when Sri Lanka toured New Zealand in January. The all-rounder also showed decent form with the ball in the warm-up game and is a good pick. Thisara Perera can be a good accelerator for Lanka in the death overs and can also be a wicket-taker. He is a decent alternative captaincy choice too.
